Skill Level:  Although flatwater/Class I the entire way, this trip is happening during what will likely be spring runoff so the Colorado River will be full and flowing fast. Good boat handling skills will be important.
Saturday's Float:  Find your own sleeping arrangements for Friday night in or near Moab or at individual camp sites.  We will leave some cars at Dewey Bridge for shuttling.  Launch Saturday at Cisco Landing no later than 10 a.m. We should exit the river at the Dewey Bridge campground with plenty of time to set up camp. Pack a lunch to eat somewhere along the river.
Saturday Camping & Pot Luck:  Group campground A is booked for Saturday and Sunday nights.
The campsite is dry.  Bring water.  Pit toilets available.  We can have 12 occupants and 8 cars.  Additional single sites are available first-come-first-served.  Only the group site could be reserved.  Leslie will cook ham & potatoes and cobbler in her Dutch ovens.  Bring a salad or something else to share.  .
Sunday's Float:  From the campsite at Dewey Bridge for 8 miles or so and exit at Lower Onion Creek.  Plan for a 9 a.m. shuttle to leave some cars and kayak trailer at the take out.  We should be done in the early afternoon.  Stay and camp another night or pack up and drive home.
Volunteer to Scout: Leslie is organizing, but has never been there.  She will be scouting the river Thursday and Friday or maybe earlier.  Anybody who wants to help scout is more than welcome.  Just let Leslie know.
Sign up soon.  Register as early as you can.  We need at least three folks committed before Saturday, May 25. Otherwise the group site and the two floats will be cancelled.
Limited Capacity:  As per RMSKC policy, registration is not limited, but capacity is  limited.  If we have more than 12 campers in more than 8 cars, we will do a drawing May 30 to see who can camp in the group spot.  We will also need assistant organizers with river experience to lead and sweep on the water so that we can stay safe.
Please make sure your ACA membership is current and you have signed an annual waiver sometime after June 1, 2023.  If not, do an ACA waiver NOW.  ACA Smart Waiver
Hazards:  Cold water.  Moving water.  Possible strainers. Slippery rocks and river bottom.  Any sport carries with it risks, and it is for you to understand those risks and decide whether you are prepared to accept them before undertaking any activity.  Kayaking is no different.  It can be dangerous if not undertaken in a safe manner and should never be done without training, experience, and the correct use of equipment.  The Rocky Mountain Sea Kayak Club cannot accept responsibility for any injury or accident that may occur.
